What is Thermography?
Thermography is a non-invasive screening that is radiation-free, touch-free, and pain-free. It converts infrared radiation that’s emitted from the skin surface into electrical impulses that are visualized in color.
Thermography detects inflammation, which oftentimes is the very first sign of a potential health problem. Thermography can give you an early look at your health status, often before you show any signs or symptoms of an issue or disease.
With thermography, we use a special infrared, FDA-registered camera, that creates a digital map of your body which illustrates heat patterns – patterns that may detect the inflammation connected to a condition or abnormality. The camera measures the body’s surface temperature, presenting the inflammation as a digitized image. Our body’s temperature is normally symmetrical, so thermal asymmetries can indicate a problem.
If you’ve never heard of thermography, you may wonder how credible it is. The equipment used is calibrated to measure to 100th of a degree centigrade. Thermographers are trained to exacting standards and must pass several tests plus keep current with continuing education. Your scans are actually analyzed and reviewed by licensed medical doctors who specialize in thermography. A detailed report plus your images are sent to you in 48-72 hours.
According to Dr. Thomas Hudson, “Thermography can detect physiological changes associated with breast cancer while it’s still at the cellular level – before it becomes visible on a mammogram.” This thermal imaging system is also safe, painless and radiation-free. Dr. Hudson is a Radiologist and breast imaging specialist.
Breast Thermography measures the vascular changes in your breasts, as they detect blood flow patterns, inflammation, and asymmetries. A mammogram is a type of structural imaging that looks at anatomical changes, detecting structures and/or lumps. A lump has to grow to a certain size before it can even be detected by a mammogram, which can take up to 5-10 years. This means that your mammograms can come back negative even when there is a lump developing in your breast tissue but hasn’t grown large enough to be detectable.
Once a lump is detected, we know that it has been growing for several years, and this is the reason that breast thermography is not looking for structures or lumps. Breast thermography has the ability to monitor thermal abnormalities within your breasts since it detects tissue changes, even before a structural change or lump forms. These thermal abnormalities include new blood vessel formation that is typically present when a tumor is forming. Thermal asymmetries visible on your breast thermogram correspond with the physiological changes currently occurring in your body.
Moreover, regular (annual) breast health monitoring with breast thermography can provide the earliest warning signs of possible evolving pathology without having to wait for years. So don’t wait, start your breast health prevention today with a breast thermogram.
Thermography is also a great tool to monitor breast health because it gives indications of problems before there is a diagnosed cancer that can be changed and monitored. Examples include estrogen dominance, lymphatic congestion, and even allergies that cause inflammation. Total Body Thermography & Wellness educates our clients on breast health ideas during
Thermograms can benefit ALL women and can be particularly useful for women under 40 who want to monitor their breast health. Breast disease prevention should start as early as possible…this includes physical exams and breast self-exams, together with thermography to provide you with an important tool for breast health.
Your first breast scan provides the baseline of your “thermal signature.” The second session, usually 3 months later, is a comparative study to analyze any changes.

Meet Your Thermographers
Sandy and Brittany are a mother-daughter team, alongside Derek, Brittany’s husband, and the owners of Total Body Thermography & Wellness. They have completed extensive training from the American College of Clinical Thermology and have received the designation of Clinical Thermographer, and are also members of the Professional Organization ACCT.
Brittany Tarrh, BCHC, CCT & Derek Tarrh, CCT
Brittany and Derek are certified clinical thermographers; Brittany has worked in healthcare for over 10 years and has a degree in health information. Derek has a military background and Brittany is also a board-certified holistic health coach. In 2014, shortly after Brittany and Derek were married, she was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis, a chronic bladder disorder. There is no cure for this disorder, but there are treatments. While seeking out treatment options, Brittany and Derek became very passionate about disease prevention and alternative medicine, which led them down the path of wellness education. Derek has traveled this journey with Brittany, and together, they knew they wanted to make a difference! After learning about thermography, they determined their calling is to provide better alternative health options. They have made it their mission to support others on their health journey with healthy eating, toxin-free products and supplements, and other health and wellness modalities. Brittany offers health and wellness coaching sessions in the office or by phone.
